Organic, a more than logical choice.

We had been mulling over this idea for quite some time and today we finally see it come to fruition. We are delighted to announce the birth of Fiorbì, Di Leo’s new biscuit range made from organic ingredients.

At times of great uncertainty, such as the ones we are currently facing, we truly believe that concepts such as food safety, supply chain control and environmental protection have become increasingly important for people looking for products that provide strong guarantees of quality.

Indeed, organic farming is the only form of agriculture controlled by European and national laws and guaranteed not on the basis of statements by the producer, but by a uniform EU-wide monitoring system.

But let’s take a closer look at just what we mean by “organic”.

organic farmingThe term “organic farming” refers to a method of raising crops and livestock using only natural products, and outlawing the use of chemicals such as fertilizers, herbicides and insecticides.

But that is far from all. It also means adopting an approach that avoids over-exploiting natural resources, in particular the soil, water and air, by using organic material to ensure soil fertility.

Crop protection is initially based on prevention rather than cure, by selecting disease-resistant species and by using appropriate cropping techniques.
Where required, further measures can be taken using natural plant-, animal-, or mineral-based substances, such as plant extracts, beneficial insects that prey on pests, or natural minerals that amend the chemical characteristics of the soil.

All this serves to restore the natural balance and design a development model that can last over time.

That explains why offering a tasty and fully-guaranteed product, at a great value price, is a more than logical choice, which aims not only to meet the requirements of many of our customers, but also to preserve the wonderful asset that is our environment.
